National Consortium Projects

The National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers is engaged in several concurrent activities designed to assess and clarify the nature of the interpreter shortage, attract men and women from diverse communities into interpreting education programs, enhance undergraduate interpreting education through adoption of ASL instructional standards and effective links between two- and four-year programs, and investigating and promoting effective practices in specialty areas of interpreting education, mentor development, and consumer self-advocacy training.

NURIEC staff provides leadership for three initiatives carried out by NCIEC cross-center teams and partner networks: Marketing the Interpreting Profession, Mental Healthcare and Substance Abuse Interpreting Education, and Deaf Interpreting.
