Home | Press Releases | Letter of Invitation Announcement: Grant Funding Available – Letter of Invitation The program is being developed in three phases. The first phase of the Deaf Advocacy Program focused on “Identifying Effective Practices Related to Enhancing the Deaf Community’s Ability to Self Advocate for Their Rights to Communication Access.” It was conducted by CSD (also known as Communication Service for the Deaf) and completed in July 2007. Via a Letter of Invitation (LOI) process, the NCIEC Deaf Advocacy Training Work Team is now seeking one entity to carry out the activities associated with the development of a training curriculum that will enhance the Deaf Community’s Ability to Self Advocate for the Right to Communication Access. This project represents the second phase of a three-phase project. More specifically, NCIEC seeks an entity to develop a professionally designed curriculum that is culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate for the greater grassroots Deaf Community, and modified for Deaf individuals often referred to as “language challenged” or “low functioning.” The curriculum will include: 1) an instructional plan that reflects interactive learning, along with the plan’s related print and media materials; and 2) a train the trainer curriculum with accompanying instructional manual/guide. The Letter of Invitation (LOI) for Phase 2 funding is available online. Please click here to read the LOI. Applications were due November 15, 2007. Work is anticipated to begin on February 1, 2008 and be completed by December 31, 2008. NCIEC invites any and all qualified applicants. Preference will be given to qualified Deaf, hard of hearing or Deaf-Blind entities.
