Rico Peterson

Associate Professor

Dr. Rico Peterson is an Associate Professor in the American Sign Language Program at Northeastern University. He has worked as an interpreter for 35 years and has been involved in teaching and learning ASL and interpreting for much of that time. Dr. Peterson's diverse background includes professional work as an actor, writer, newscaster, disc jockey, and translator. He earned a BA degree in Theater from Nazareth College, an MFA in Playwriting from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from the University of California at Riverside. His research interests include language anxiety, second language acquisition by adults, and classroom interaction.
