Prospective students
will need to meet all basic requirements of the School for
Professional and Continuing Studies, in addition to department
requirements. Prospective students must have successfully
completed a bachelor degree from an accredited institution,
have 5 years experience as an interpreter, with at
least 3 of those as a nationally certified interpreter, and
meet one of the following requirements:
- Graduated
in good standing and a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Been
accepted as a special student and completed two to four
SPCS graduate courses with at least a B average and no
grade below B-.
- Demonstrate
competency in the field of interpreting, knowledge of ASL
Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, and Multi-Cultural Communicative
Competencies

Prospective students
must submit official undergraduate transcripts (with translation
and evaluation into English if completed outside of the United
States), three letters of reference, an up-to-date resumé,
and a 1,000 word statement of purpose that describes their
interest in the program and the expectations they have for
the program. They must submit direct evidence of competence
in American Sign Language, or some other visual language.

F4. Graduation Requirements
In order for students
to receive the MIP degree students must posses a GPA of
3.00 or higher with a minimum of 44 quarter hours.
